huò 霍

"Huò" origin: It comes from the Jī surname and uses the name of the state as the clan name. According to "Yuán Hé Xìng Zuǎn" and "Guǎng Yùn", in the 11th century BC, at the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty, Shū Chù, the sixth son of King Wén, was enfeoffed in the State of Huò (now Huò County, Shanxi Province). At that time, Uncle Huò, Uncle Guǎn, and Uncle Cài jointly supervised the remaining people of the Yin and Shang Dynasties, and they were called the "Three Supervisors". During the reign of King Chéng of Zhou, Wǔ Gēng colluded with Uncle Huò and others to rebel. After the rebellion was quelled, Uncle Huò was demoted to a commoner. The descendants of the State of Huò took the state name "Huò" as their clan name.
