huì 惠

### Huishi A native of the State of Song during the Warring States period, he was a friend of Zhuang Zhou and one of the representatives of the School of Names. He advocated the theory of "the unity of identity and difference", believing that all differences and oppositions are relative. Zhuangzi said, "Huishi had extensive knowledge, and his books filled five carriages." He wrote an article called *Huizi*. ### Hui Shigi (1671 - 1741 AD) With the courtesy name Zhongru, he was a native of Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province in the Qing Dynasty. His family had a studio named Red Bean Studio, so he was known as the Red Bean Scholar. He served as a scholar in the Imperial Hanlin Academy. He inherited the knowledge from his father, Hui Zhouti, and specialized in the study of classics and history. He wrote books such as *Explanation of the Book of Changes*, *Explanation of Rites*, and *Explanation of *The Spring and Autumn Annals*. His second - son, Hui Dong, continued the family learning, explored various classics extensively, and had a large number of works, including *The Han Learning of the Book of Changes*, *Investigation of the Ancient Text *The Book of Documents*, *Ancient Meanings of the Nine Classics*, and *Collected Works of Songya*. ### Hui Zhi With the courtesy name Ziwen, he was a native of Dangtu in the Song Dynasty. He was a Jinshi (successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations) during the Chongning period (1102 - 1106 AD). He successively served as the主簿 of Dehua, the judge of Shezhou, and the courtier of the Imperial Sacrificial Academy. His original name was Zhifang, and later he removed "Fang" and kept "Zhi", changing his name to Hui Zhi, aiming to keep the name meaning integrity. ### Hui Ximeng With the courtesy name Qiuya, he was a native of Jiangyin in the Yuan Dynasty. He was naturally intelligent and well - read. He wrote books such as *The Profound Mystery of the Images in the Book of Changes*, *Compilation of Miscellaneous Rites*, and *Family Rules*. His elder brother, Hui Xiyan, and younger brother, Hui Xidian, had no descendants. Ximeng supported his brother and took care of his brother, and they loved each other deeply.
