Famous Story
Migration and Distribution (Lack of information) The Luan surname is not among the top 100 surnames in both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. The Luan surname originated from the Ji surname. In ancient times during the Zhou Dynasty, Bin, a descendant of Tang Shuyu, the younger brother of King Cheng of Zhou, was a prince of the State of Jin and the grandson of Marquis Jing of Jin. He was enfeoffed in the Luan邑 (now east of Yuanshi County, Hebei Province; some say it is in Cheng County, Hebei Province; others say it is present-day Luancheng, Hebei). Therefore, he was called Luan Bin. Luan Bin's grandson, Luan Zhi, took the name of the fief as the surname and was called the Luan clan. This has been passed down from generation to generation, becoming the origin of the Luan surname.
