You Mao (1127–1194), styled Yanzhi, was a native of Wuxi, Changzhou in the Song Dynasty. He was extremely intelligent when he was young and entered the Imperial College. He ranked first among many scholars in terms of ci - poems and fu - prose. In the 18th year of the Shaoxing reign, he was promoted to Jinshi (successful candidates in the highest imperial examination). He successively held official positions such as the imperial historian and lecturer, and was later appointed as the Minister of Rites. He once took the name from Sun Chuo's "Sui Chu Fu" and adopted it as his self - title. Emperor Guangzong once bestowed a plaque with calligraphy. He died at the age of seventy and was posthumously given the title of "Wenjian". He wrote works such as "Sui Chu Xiao Gao" and was one of the four great masters in the Southern Song Dynasty.
