**Origin of the surname "Luo"**: 1. It originated from the surname "Yun" and was named after the state. According to *Tongzhi - Shi Zu Lue - Naming After the State*, there was a Luo State in the Zhou Dynasty. It was initially enfeoffed in Yicheng (present - day Yicheng County, Hubei Province) and later moved to Zhijiang. It was destroyed by the Chu State during the Spring and Autumn Period. At the end of the Zhou Dynasty, its people lived in Changsha, and they took the original name of the state, "Luo", as their surname. 2. It is said that they are descendants of Zhu Rong, an ancient emperor. 3. During the Tang Dynasty, Khagan Huse Luo of the Western Turkic Khaganate came to China. His descendants initially took Huse Luo as their surname and later changed it to "Luo". 4. It was changed from a compound surname of the Xianbei ethnic group.
